Education: Dr. Roddy holds a Ph.D. in School Improvement from Texas State University and a Master's in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University.

With a career in education spanning over two decades, Dr. Roddy joins Bluebonnet Trail Elementary from Hutto ISD, where she has served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction since March 2020. In this role, she spearheaded initiatives that significantly improved teacher retention and student achievement across all grade levels. Her efforts led to the creation of comprehensive Math and Literacy frameworks, a district-wide instructional playbook, and innovative assessment strategies that have measurably improved educational outcomes.

Before her tenure at Hutto ISD, Dr. Roddy was instrumental in enhancing bilingual and ESL programs within Manor ISD as the Director of Bilingual/ESL from July 2015 to March 2020. Her leadership was pivotal in developing dual language programming and improving the academic achievements of Emergent Bilingual students.

"I am honored to join Bluebonnet Trail Elementary for the next school year and eager to collaborate with the faculty, students, and parents in this vibrant community," Dr. Roddy said. "Together, we will focus on nurturing an environment where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their fullest potential."

Assistant Principal Dr. Gilbert Hicks

Education: Dr. Gilbert Hicks comes to us with more than 30 years of experience in education, all in Austin ISD. His educational background includes a doctoral degree in K-12 educational administration from Aspen University and a master’s degree in educational administration and an undergraduate degree in Biology, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a certification as a Project Management Professional and in Educational Supervision.  During his tenure with Austin ISD, he served as a middle school teacher, high school assistant principal, elementary principal (13 years), associate superintendent of schools (13 years), and as Interim Chief of School Leadership. Since his retirement in December 2023, he has been serving as an administrative substitute in various school districts, a Thought Leadership partner with ABL (Always Be Learning), a company dedicated to maximizing the learning time and educational opportunities provided to students and as an Expert Educator in Residence with the National Council on Education and Economics.
